Alcohol Ink Resin Coasters - Couture Creations

Hi Everyone, Anet here today and welcome to my inspiration post. I made some coasters using the new Clear Casting Resin and Alcohol Inks from Couture Creations

Instructions:

I first warmed the Clear Casting Resin Part A and B in a water bath.  This is necessary if the weather is cold outside or the resin is cold. It brings the resin up to temperature and restore the consistency. The added advantage is that it greatly reduces the amount of bubbles and is good when you pour resin into silicone moulds.

Tip:  Do not get any water into the resin hardener it will turn the mixture cloudy.

For the four coasters I measured equal volume of 65g of the Clear Casting Resin Part A and B.

Tip:  Use gloves when you pour the resin into the cups.

I then poured it into a mixing container and stir it.

Tip: Stir the resin thoroughly for 3 minutes.  Scrape along the sides and bottom as you stir to ensure the total mixture will catalyse properly and cure as expected.

After I stirred it thoroughly I pour it into the silicone coasters.

I used different Alcohol Inks for the four coasters.

For the first coaster I used the following Alcohol Inks: Snow, Sail Boat, Ice Blue and Daffodil.

The second coaster I used Alcohol Inks: Snow, Shamrock, Citrus and Wine.

I then used Alcohol Inks: Snow, Jade and Mulberry for the third coaster.

Lastly I used Alcohol Inks: Snow, Sail Boat, Ice Blue and Shamrock for the fourth coaster.

The first two coasters I left the alcohol ink to do its magic with the resin.

The last two coasters I used a skewer and lightly moved the alcohol ink around in the resin.

Tip: You have about 45 minutes of working time before the resin cure.

To finish off I then covered the resin coasters with a box to protect it from dust and let it sit over night.

Tip: In about 24 hours it will be hard to the touch and after 72 hours it will be fully cured. Cure time will be decreased in a warmer room.

After 24 hours I took the resin coasters out of the moulds.  It was hard to touch and I placed it flat onto the surface to fully cure for another 48 hours.
